18th BJS Preliminary Examination: The Right Preparation Strategy.
18th BJS Preliminary Examination: The Right
Preparation Strategy
The Challenge of the
Syllabus and the Need for Patience
The BJS (Bangladesh Judicial Service)
examination syllabus is quite extensive. A common challenge in completing this
syllabus is that you may get bored or find it difficult to maintain your
patience. This is not just your problem; it's a common issue for everyone.
Therefore, it is crucial to study with focus and dedication. Initially, you
might feel that it's impossible for you to complete the syllabus. But trust me,
if you study diligently every day, you will definitely be able to finish it.
The Importance of
Model Tests
Your primary responsibility now is to
focus on preparing for the preliminary examination. If possible, buy good books
and take model tests. You should start taking tests from books that offer
subject-based or chapter-wise model tests. This will help you understand the
quality of your preparation.
The Misconception of
Abbreviated Preparation
The preliminary examination is designed
to filter out candidates. It's almost impossible to predict which specific
topics will be covered. Therefore, the idea of passing the preliminary exam
with an abbreviated preparation is incorrect. The questions can be easy,
difficult, or a mix of both. You cannot determine in advance what the questions
will be like. Thus, taking a concise approach to your initial preparation is
not the right strategy.
Reality and the
Examiner's Perspective
Let me give you an example. If you look
at the written part of the previous Bar Council examination, you will see that
many new questions appeared. This means questions that you might have
considered unimportant and skipped could show up. There is no such thing as a
concise suggestion for the preliminary examination. There might be a short list
of topics to focus on in the days leading up to the exam, which is quite
normal. But no one can guarantee that questions will not appear outside of this
list.
For instance, if I were asked to set
the BJS preliminary examination questions, I would know which topics you are
expecting. If I wished to, I could very easily frame questions from areas you
would typically not prioritize. This is not a difficult task for me, as I took
this exam myself and have been in the judiciary for nearly seven years. I have
also written several books and numerous articles on BJS preparation on various
websites. In short, I know all aspects of BJS exam preparation. It is not
difficult to set questions to challenge you. Now, consider someone with more
experience than me setting your questions—think about how easy it would be for
them to create difficult questions. Therefore, prepare with a sense of reality.
Preparing for All
Types of Questions
If you look at the BJS exam questions,
you'll see that some are very easy, some are of moderate difficulty, and some
are hard. It's not true that you will only get difficult questions, just as it
is not true that the questions will be simple. The main purpose of my writing
is to give you an idea of how you should approach your preparation.
